BHTC Meeting Report AND A First FBS Win!

Excitement and Enthusiasm Kick Off First Club Lunch for 2025

On the cusp of the inaugural season in C-USA, Head Coach Ryan Carty
and Interim Athletic Director Jordan Skolnick showed palpable confidence
and excitement speaking to those gathered members at the Bob Carpenter
Club on Wednesday.

Coach Carty answered many questions ranging from his expectations for
the team (to win and to find the team’s identity) to recruiting advantages
and gameday communication nuances in the FBS. Carty expects the team
to make smart decisions, stay disciplined, and play hard and tough.
Although he does not know how the Hens will stack up this year versus a
tougher schedule, his confidence in the size and experience of his team
makes him optimistic. Being in the C-USA (a G6 conference) has enabled
the staff to “get a foot in the door” with recruits who previously showed little
interest in Delaware. Adding this level of talent to existing leadership
creates a great first step as the team “levels up”.

Interim AD Skolnick addressed the many different opportunities to support
UD Athletics. This support is extremely important due to the constantly
changing landscape of college sports and the need to work continuously for
financial sustainability. These efforts can come through NIL revenue
sharing and capital projects. Skolnick also talked about gameday changes
from bringing back the Flight Path (the team walk) to a la carte food and
beverage in the Fan Zone and the return of the Beer Garden.
It is an exciting time for Blue Hen Athletics! Go Hens!

Hope to see many fans at next week’s lunch where we will hear from
linebackers coach and special teams coordinator, Rocco DiMeco, and from
the coach of the newest sport at UD, Ice Hockey Head Coach Allison
Coomey.
